Description

Redman Dark Bown Sugar is granulated sugar that is naturally produced and extracted from cane juice without the use of any additives. Through the process, the sugar retains a small quantity of its molasses contents that gives it a light caramel hue, a rich aroma and a soft flavour. Brown sugar has the ability to retain the moisture of your product, which will result in baked goods that are softer yet denser. It also adds value to the aesthetics and the flavour of the foods by giving it a light caramel or brownish hue, and a deep, caramel or toffee-like flavour which the molasses provide. It is used in a range of applications including baked goods, usually in healthier recipes. It should be stored in a cool and dark place.

How to use

Brown sugar is often used as a replacement of regular white sugar in baking. It should be stirred in or dissolved as instructed according to your recipe.

Suggested Recipes

Brown sugar is suitable for zucchini bread, rich chocolate cookies and even fruit cakes. It is sometimes also used as a direct alternative to regular white sugar due to its nutritional properties. Brown sugar can also be used in savoury dishes like pickling vegetables, sprinkling in Asian stir fry dishes, seasoning grilled meat dishes like chicken, and making salad dressing.

Alternatives

Honey, demerara sugar and raw sugar are possible alternatives to brown sugar.

Suitable For

This product is suitable for vegan recipes.
